enclosing, detailing, and even a pyramid


Greetings!  I was lucky enough to have some time off of work, so I got a lot of tedious stuff done including writing and testing scripts which is starting to feel a little more comfortable.  You can get a lot of mileage out of "transparent box that when walked through, does X"  Simple but rigorously tested scripts actuate the manifestation of the Red Environment (not pictured) as well as the new Pyramid area.  Mostly I use the trick of appearance/disappearance to preserve immersion in the face of rendering distance limits; or else you'd see that incongruous object that scrapes in and out of view based on camera angle - not very realistic!  If you pay attention you'll pick up on my instances of trickery

Now that all of the megastructure's levels are connected I am roaming about while brainstorming, and formalizing all the pathways that skirt or subvert the obvious ones.  Jump in the whirlpool by the water treatment building, and you'll find a cave passageway that leads to tunnels and either up into the desert, or down, around the corner and into stairwell 2 - that kind of thing!  The idea being that you can relaxedly follow your nose somewhere new, and not ever get stuck.  Having said that, some passageways have clever tricks so that they are one-way only!  This all makes for lots of nice regions I will later decorate with different moods and themes

I've also added more railings and fences and things like that, as cues for where the path goes as well as to have some recognizable human-scale elements around.  Next will be a few more objects: large rock cluster, and probably some tall pole-trees of the type you see deeper in the forest
